Joaquim de Moura received his M.Sc. degree in Computer Science in 2016 (1st place to the best Master\'s Degree project awarded by the CPEIG) and his Ph.D. degree in 2019 (Cum Laude; International Doctor Mention; and Extraordinary PhD Award at UDC where he obtained 1st place in the area of Computer Science and Mathematics). Distinguished by the Royal Galician Academy of Sciences for his work in the fight against COVID-19. He is currently an Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Computer Science and Information Technology at the University of A Coruña. He is also a researcher in the Varpa group affiliated to the Centre for Information and Communications Technology Research (CITIC) and the Biomedical Research Institute of A Coruña (INIBIC). Award for the best research group in Galicia 2020 (1st edition). He was awarded two competitive postdoctoral fellowships [Xunta de Galicia, (grant ref. ED481B 2021/059)] and [CITIC, (grant ref. 2020/CP/015)]. He was awarded a competitive predoctoral Fellow, funded by the Government of Galicia (Spain) and European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) [CITIC, (grant ref. 2017/CP/054)]. He has worked as a visiting researcher at the Centre for Biomedical Engineering Research (C-BER) affiliated to the Institute for Systems and Computer Engineering, Technology and Science (INESC-TEC). He has also worked as a postdoctoral visiting researcher at the Quantitative Healthcare Analysis (QurAI) group at the University of Amsterdam. He serves as a member of the review committee of some well-established journals in his field of research. He also serves in the technical and organizational committees of many reputed conferences. He has published more than 95 peer-reviewed publications, including Computer Methods and Programs in Biomedicine, Expert Systems with Applications, Applied Soft Computing, Biomedical Optics Express, Engineering Applications of Artificial Intelligence, Journal of Digital Imaging, Journal of Biomedical Signal Processing and Control, among others. He is an expert evaluator of research projects from different international calls. His main research interests lie in the fields of computer vision, image processing, machine learning, pattern recognition and biomedical image analysis.
