Eugenio Amendola

Institute of Polymers, Composites and Biomaterials Italy

Eugenio Amendola, an industrial chemist, graduated from the University of Naples 'Federico II” in 1986. He is a senior researcher at the Institute of Polymer, Composites and Biomaterials of the National Research Council. He was appointed Director of the same Institute from 2012 to 2014, and President of the Campania section of Italian Chemical Society from 2013 to 2015. He was appointed Professor in Polymer Technology, Chemistry and Applied Chemistry at the University of Naples 'Federico II” and the University of Salerno from 1988 to 2012. He was an associate researcher at the University of Connecticut and Gotemburg Polytechnic. His scientific activity was focused on the design and synthesis of Liquid Crystalline polymers and thermosets for structural and functional applications, development of smart nanocomposites based on hybrid structure, advanced polymeric materials for cultural heritage restoration and preservation. Recently he is developing self-healing thermosets and composites based on thermo-reversible chemical reactions for prolonged service use and for unprecedented recyclability and reworkability of composite materials based on thermosetting resins.
