Malek Karaim

Dr. Malek Karaim is a dual-masters and PhD holder in the major of Electrical and Computer Engineering. Dr. Karaim has expertise in Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS), Inertial Navigation Systems (INS), and Multi-Sensor Fusion for vehicular navigation technology. He has applied several Bayesian estimation, filtering, and modeling techniques, including Kalman and Particle filters, Fast Orthogonal Search (FOS), and Neural Networks, in the context of navigation systems. He also recently started exploring the application of artificial intelligence methods in Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite-based navigation as an aiding source and an alternative to GNSS. Dr. Karaim is now the Head of Scientific Research and Consultation Office at the faculty of engineering and a member of the International Rankings Committee at the University of Zawia, Libya. He is also actively participating as a research associate with the navigation and instrumentation (NavINST) group at the Royal Military College (RMC) of Canada and Queen’s University.
