Douglas McNair MD PhD is President, Cerner Math Inc, and one of three Cerner Engineering Fellows. He has been lead inventor on more than 100 patents and is responsible for innovations in mathematical modeling, decision support, and very-large-scale datamining. His recent research includes Bayesian Model Averaging methods for identifying unfairness in machine-learning-based AI and decision-support apps, to help prevent serial ML from recapitulating or intensifying social injustice that may be latent in the accumulating data on which the ML is performed. In 1987, McNair was co-inventor and co-developer of Discern Expert®, a decision-support engine that is used in more than 2,000 health care facilities around the world. McNair has served as a faculty member of Baylor College of Medicine.
