Dr. J. Kashanna studied chemistry at Nizame college in Hyderabad, Telangana, where he worked in the research group of Prof. M. Vijulatha and Prof. V. Uma. Later, he moved to Dr. Biswanath Das group to pursue research in chemistry at the CSIR-Indian Institute of Chemical Technology, Hyderabad and was awarded with a doctoral degree for the dissertation work entitled 'Chemical modifications of parthenin and stereoselective total synthesis of (3R,6E)-1,7-bis(4-hydroxyphenyl) hept-6-ene-3-ol along with development of new synthetic methodologies” from Osmania University in January 2014. After Ph.D. studies, he worked two years as a UGC - Dr. D. S. Kothari postdoctoral fellow on a project entitled 'Transition-metal catalyzed addition and cyclization reactions of allenes/propargylic esters and their applications in natural product synthesis” with Prof. K. C. Kumara Swamy at the University of Hyderabad. In 2016, he began his independent career as a lecturer and was promoted as Assistant Professor in Rajiv Gandhi University of Knowledge Technology (RGUKT), Basar. He is also a principal investigator at the RGUKT, Basar since 2017. He has also served as a member of the Editorial Board to Science Journal of Chemistry (SJC) and as a reviewer of ChemistrySelect (Chem. Select).
