Chanvit Leelayuwat

Chanvit Leelayuwat was born in Bangkok, Thailand. His Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology (with First Class Honor and Gold Medal Award) and Master of Science in Clinical Pathology were awarded from Mahidol University, Bangkok, Thailand. He earned his PhD (Thesis title: Comparative Genomic Analysis of the Central Major Histocompatibility Complex, under the supervision of Professor RL Dawkins) in Molecular Immunology from The University of Western Australia, Perth, Australia under the support of Equity and Merit Scholarship Scheme, AIDAB, Australia. He was an Ada Batholomew Research Fellow in 1994 at The Centre for Cell and Molecular Biology and The Centre for Molecular Immunology and Instrumentation, The University of Western Australia, Perth, Western Australia and NHMRC Research Officer at the same institute in 1995 before returning to Khon Kaen University which has been his primary employer since 1987. He was awarded a Thailand Research Fund Scholar in 1999-2002. He is now an Associate Professor in the Department of Clinical Immunology and Transfusion Sciences and principle investigator of a project “Molecular and Cellular Immunology and Transplantation” under The Centre for Research and Development of Medical Diagnostic Laboratories (CMDL), Faculty of Associated Medical Sciences, Khon Kaen University, Thailand. He has published more than 70 publications in ISI journals. His research interest is in molecular biology and genetics of the immune system in cancer, infectious diseases and transplantation especially in molecular interactions between NKG2D and diverse NKG2D ligands relevant to immune responses.
