Jun Zhang

Dr. Jun Zhang is a scientist at the University of Miami and at the Hurricane Research Division of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. He received his PhD degree in Applied Marine Physics from the Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science, University of Miami in 2007. His current research interests include air-sea interaction, boundary-layer dynamics, turbulence and hurricane modeling. He has authored over 70 peer-reviewed publications. He is an Associate Editor of Monthly Weather Review and Tropical Cyclone Research and Review. He has been involved in the hurricane field program, serving as lead project scientist and instrument scientist. He received CIMAS Gold Medal Award for the recognition of his role in improving the operational Hurricane Weather Research and Forecasting (HWRF) model for hurricane intensity prediction.
