Universidade do Estado da Bahia Brazil

Prof. André Pedral Sampaio de Sena, Ph.D is a native of Salvador, Bahia, having a degree in Electrical Engineering from UFBA and a Ph.D in Production Engineering from UFSC; He has worked in several companies in the Camaçari Petrochemical Complex in the areas of maintenance and projects of cogeneration and control. From 1994 he returned to the academic world, teaching at various public and private colleges and universities in Engineering, Administration, Information Systems, Computer Science and Accounting. He is currently an Associate Professor at FACTIVA - Faculdade de Tecnologia de Valença, and due to years of experience and knowledge in higher education, he has become an evaluator of the Brazilian Higher Education System of INEP / MEC. With the partnership between FACTIVA and some companies from southern Bahia, and based on the vast experience of prof. André Pedral in the area of renewable energy, carbon and greenhouse gas sequestration and innovation management and new technologies for process waste treatment, GrAPOLLO - research group APOLLO and NDTA - Center for the Development of Self-supporting Technologies, were created, where he acts as researcher / coordinator. GrAPOLLO's main objective is to develop low cost cogeneration systems using plasma and hydrogen, based on carbon and greenhouse gas sequestration, and to deal with the plasma treatment of process residues. GrAPOLLO, through its coordinator, has won numerous awards, including: 4th Santander National Science and Innovation Award with the OPTIMUS project: Creation of a method for strategic management assessment informed by MCDA-C; 2nd International Green Energy Innovation Award - with the QUIRON project: Methane reform to a cold plasma reactor with hydrogen production for desalination and energy cogeneration. As coordinator of the Apollo Research Group, he develops several research projects such as: • ATHENAS - Green building project, with capacity to treat all waste and sewage generated, generation of its own energy consumed, innovative air conditioning system, reducing carbon emission to the atmosphere; • QUIRON: Methane reform to a hydrogen production cold plasma reactor for desalination and energy cogeneration; • NETUNO: Methane reform of a hydrogen production cold plasma reactor for contaminated water treatment and energy cogeneration for hydroponic food production; • AQUILES: Construction of a cold methane reform plasma reactor for hydrogen production for use in hybrid motor vehicles; • ARTEMIS: Multifunctional platform for electric power generation from wave, wind, thermal and solar energy; • NEMESIS: Methane reform by a small hydrogen production cold plasma reactor for power generation on 0.5 to 3 kw generators for use in underprivileged communities and disaster zones.
