Ionel Chirica
Ionel Chirica is professor at University “Dunarea de Jos” of Galati, where he graduated in 1978 as Naval architect and obtained his doctorate in 1991. He is also PhD supervisor, in the same university. He is teaching courses in Mechanical Engineering field (Theory of Elasticity, Finite Element analysis, Mechanics of Structures, Composite Structures). He spent more than ten years in leading positions in the University (Scientific secretary, Vice-Dean, Director of Doctoral School). He has been involved in various R&D activities and especially European and national projects on the development of ship structures, activating in EU project since 2004. He published more than 200 scientific papers and frequently acts as member of scientific Committees of conferences and as reviewer for journals etc. He is a member of several professional organisations and working groups.
