Dr Singh is working as Professor in the Electronics and Communication Engineering of NIIT University-Neemarana Rajasthan India. Prior to joining this Unversity, he was Associate Professor in Faculty of Engineering and Technology, Multimedia University-Melaka Malaysia. He has more than 27 years of teaching experience for graduate and undergraduate students. He has successfully supervised 4 PhDs and 7 Master thesis. His areas of interest are modeling of submicron MOS devices, Low power VLSI circuit design, Nanotechnology and Renewable energy sources. He has published more than 95 research papers in various International Journals and conferences and reviewed many research papers submitted to various international journals. He is associated with many research journals in their editorial board. Dr Singh has contributed two chapters in edited book and authored three books.

Power Efficient Data-Aware SRAM Cell for SRAM-Based FPGA Architecture

The design of low-power SRAM cell becomes a necessity in today's FPGAs, because SRAM is a critical component in FPGA design and consumes a large fraction of the total power. The present chapter provides an overview of various factors responsible for power consumption in FPGA and discusses the design techniques of low-power SRAM-based FPGA at system level, device level, and architecture levels. Finally, the chapter proposes a data-aware dynamic SRAM cell to control the power consumption in the cell. Stack effect has been adopted in the design to reduce the leakage current. The various peripheral circuits like address decoder circuit, write/read enable circuits, and sense amplifier have been modified to implement a power-efficient SRAM-based FPGA.

Plant Base Renewable Energy to Power Nanoscale Sensors

The modern technologies have been revolutionized due to tremendous progress in Internet-of-Things (IoT). Sensors are a core component to make a bridge between the Internet and surrounding environments. The progress in power efficient communication network makes it possible to deploy the sensors in remote areas. The major drawback of these sensors is that they use Li-ion battery for power supply, which needs frequent recharging/replacement due to massive number of connected devices to IoT. The hazardous chemicals left in environment after the use of battery is another concern. Since modern nanoscale sensors need only nanoscale power (of order of μWatt), nanogenerators can play an important role to provide self-powered sensors, which is growing technology that can harvest small-scale energy from piezo- and pyroelectric effect. However, this technique is lightweight but not cost-effective and biodegradable. We have proposed a green, sustainable energy harvesting system based on living plants because plants are the undisputed champion of solar power that operates at nearly 100% efficiency. Plant-based energy generation is a method that harvests electrical energy from living plants due to a chemical reaction between the plant and a pair of electrodes. This energy is available 24×7 day and night irrespective of environmental conditions.
