He is full professor of the Analytical Chemistry, Nutrition and Bromatology department of the Universidade de Santiago de Compostela. He is currently a member of the scientific committee of the Spanish Security Agency Food and Nutrition (AESAN). He is editor of some international peer review journals as Food Control, Antibiotics, Food and Bioprocess Technology, Current Pharmaceutical Biotechnology. His research is focused in the detection of pathogenic bacteria in food and other matrices and the effect of various substances on pathogenic bacteria as well as the detection of the use of non in animal production by direct methods such as the detection of such substances in feed, meat, additives etc. by various chromatographic techniques or also by indirect methods using transcriptomics.
