University of Calabria Italy

Nadia Scordino was born in Varese, Italy, on February 13, 1975. She received her degree in Management Engineering from the University of Calabria in 1999 and her Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Naples, Italy in 2002. Her current research interests concern: integrated solutions of optimal power flow and steady state security analysis, taking into account Flexible AC Transmission System (FACTS) devices, also within a deregulated energy market; modeling and controlling of FACTS devices for power flow regulations in transmission networks; modeling and controlling of renewable energy sources for power flow regulations in transmission and distribution networks. The new challenges offered by Smart grids; power system economics, reliability, control and optimization, including operations research, mixed-integer and stochastic optimization techniques for power system operation and planning; Techniques for electricity price and demand forecasting. Dr. Scordino is a member of the IEEE Power Engineering Society.
