Mahmood-ur-Rahman Ansari, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor of Molecular Biology at the Department of Bioinformatics and Biotechnology, GC University – Faisalabad, Pakistan. He received his BSc (Hons) in Plant Breeding and Genetics from the University of Agriculture, Faisalabad, Pakistan, in 2003. He obtained an MPhil and Ph.D. in Molecular Biology from the National Centre of Excellence in Molecular Biology, Lahore, Pakistan, in 2006 and 2011, respectively. He has published more than eighty papers in international peer-reviewed journals in the fields of molecular biology, biotechnology, and bioinformatics. He has also published eighteen book chapters and edited five books. His research interest is to understand the molecular mechanisms of stress tolerance in plants. He has been involved in the genetic modification of rice and cotton, their greenhouse and field testing, as well as biosafety studies. He is a member of various national and international professional societies.
