Shien-Kuei Liaw
Shien-Kuei Liaw was born in 1965. He received the B.S.E.E. degree from National Taiwan University, Taiwan, the M.S.E.E. degree from National Tsing-Hua University, Taiwan, and the Ph.D. degree from National Chiao-Tung University, Taiwan, in 1988, 1993, and 1999, respectively. In 1993, he joined the Telecommunication Laboratories, Ministry of Transportation and Communications, Taiwan. Since then, he has been working on fiber optics communication and fiber based devices. In 1996, he was a visiting researcher at Bellcore (now Telcordia), Red Bank, NJ. He is now a Full Professor of Electronics Engineering. He also acts as Director of Optoelectronics Research Center and Director of Technology Transfer Center, National Taiwan University of Science and Technology, Taiwan. He has authored and co-authored over 100 international journal articles and conference presentations. His research interests include optical communication, fiber lasers, fiber amplifiers and fiber sensing. He has also been actively contributing the technical programs of several international and domestic conferences through various roles. Prof. Liaw is currently serving as a referee for several top ranking SCI journals..
