Yong Ren

University of Nottingham Ningbo

Dr. Yong Ren received the B.Eng. degree from Beihang University in 2004 and the Ph.D. degrees from Hong Kong Polytechnic University in 2013. His Ph.D. research focuses on centrifugal microfluidic flow and mixing with applications in cell culture and cell lysing, and the research can lead to automated biosample preparation and nucleic acid analysis for lab-on-a-chip applications. Prior to joining University of Nottingham Ningbo China (UNNC), he worked as a postdoctoral research associate at microfluidics and soft matter group of University of Hong Kong. He has been an Assistant Professor with the Department of Mechanical, Materials, and Manufacturing Engineering at UNNC since September 2013. His research interest focuses on microscale fluid dynamics, heat and mass transfer, CFD, multiphase flow, bio-MEMS device fabrication, and functional material synthesis for energy and environmental applications. Dr. Ren is a member of ASME.
