Graduated at the College of Agriculture "Luiz de Queiroz", São Paulo State University (ESALQ/USP) (1964), master's degree in Plant Pathology at ESALQ/USP (1968) and Ph.D. in Plant Pathology at Ohio State University (1971). Post-graduation in Soil Microbiology at Georg- August-Universität Göttingen in Germany (1981-1982). Full-professor in Soil Microbiology at the College of Agriculture "Luiz de Queiroz", Department of Soil Science. Lecturer and Adviser in the post-graduate course in Soils and Plant Nutrition, at ESALQ/USP. Also Full-professor in the Post-graduate Course in Ecosystem Ecology at the University of Vila Velha - ES. Has experience in Agronomy, with expertise in Soil Microbiology and Biochemistry, with an emphasis in Rhizobiology, Mycorrhizas, Nitrogen fixation, Phosphate solubilization, Plant Growth Promoting Rhizobacteria, Biotreatment of Agro-industrial Wastes, Organic Fertilizers, Recuperation of Degraded Soils and Bioremediation and Environmental Risk Assessment with the use of Soil Ecotoxicology. H index = 45, CNPq scholar 1B and 1A for 37 years. Citations: 6245. More than 100 supervised in post-graduation and specialization courses. Published more than 170 scientific articles, and 13 books as well as 30 book chapters. Considered one of the 100 Top Scientists of Latin America, by the AD Scientific Index agency - USA.
