Ramasamy Vijayakumar

Dr. Ramasamy Vijayakumar is an Assistant professor in the Department of Microbiology, at Bharathidasan University, Tiruchirappalli, India. He has eighteen years of teaching experience as well as twenty-two years of research experience in the field of actinobacterial research. He has deposited around twenty-one nucleotide sequences in GenBank; published eighty research articles, thirteen book chapters, and three books; guided six Ph.D. candidates; and organized several seminars and workshops. He has received research grants from the DBT, TNSCST, and TANSCHE, Government of India. He filed one Indian patent. He is a life member of the National Academy of Biological Sciences, India, the Mycological Society of India, and the Microbiologist’s Society, India. He is a member of the doctoral committee for Ph.D. scholars and a member of the board of studies for microbiology in various institutions. He received the 2013 Shri P.K. Das Memorial Best Faculty Award in Microbiology from the Nehru Arts and Science College, Coimbatore, India. As per the Indian Journal of Experimental Biology (Vol. 51, 2013), Dr. Vijayakumar was ranked second in the top five institutions in the field of actinobacterial research in India.
