Ramasamy Vijayakumar
Dr. Ramasamy Vijayakumar, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor, Department of Microbiology, Bharathidasan University Constituent College, Perambalur, India. He has experience in the field of separation of secondary metabolites from actinobacteria. He has deposited around 20 nucleotide sequences in GenBank; published 65 research and review articles, 9 book chapters and one book, Characterization of Antibacterials from Terrestrial Actinobacteria; guided three Ph.D. candidates; and organized several seminars and workshops. Dr. Vijayakumar has received research grants from the Department of Biotechnology, New Delhi and Tamilnadu State Council for Science and Technology, Chennai, Government of India. He is a life member of the National Academy of Biological Sciences and Mycological Society of India. Dr. Vijayakumar is a reviewer for reputed journals, doctoral committee member and board of study member in microbiology. He received the 2013 Shri P.K. Das Memorial Best Faculty Award in Microbiology from the Nehru Arts and Science College, Coimbatore, India. As per the Indian Journal of Experimental Biology (Vol. 51, 2013), Dr. Vijayakumar was ranked in the second position in the top five institutions in the field of actinobacterial research in India.
