Péter Fülöp

Dr. Péter Fülöp serves as an Associate Professor of Medicine at University of Debrecen, Hungary. He is a graduate of the University Medical School of Debrecen in Hungary. Completing his residency program, he worked as a postdoctoral fellow at Liver Research Center of Brown University, Providence, USA, then returned to Hungary. He is board certified in Internal Medicine and Endocrinology and was awarded a PhD degree in health sciences in 2008. Authoring 48 peer-reviewed papers and teaching at various courses, he habilitated in 2015 and was promoted to Associate Professor in 2016. His research interests focus on various aspects of obesity and its co-morbidities, such as the immune-endocrine functions of the white adipose tissue-related adipokines, biomarkers of atherosclerosis, oxidative stress, dyslipidemia and insulin resistance. He organized and was invited speaker at numerous scientific conferences. Dr. Fülöp provides editorial work for various journals and he is a member of several scientific associations and serves as an Executive Committee Member of the Hungarian Atherosclerosis Association. He actively participates in graduate and postgraduate education and serves as a head of various training courses. Besides several other awards, he is the recipient of the Tibor Kovács Award of the Hungarian Membrane Transport Association and was elected four times as Educator of the Year in the MD program.
