Russell Binions

University College London United Kingdom

Dr. Russell Binions received his Ph.D. in Chemistry from University College London (University of London) in 2006. He joined the Materials Chemistry Centre in the department of Chemistry at University College London as a PDRA under the supervision of Prof. Ivan Parkin in late 2005. He was awarded a Royal Society Dorothy Hodgkin Research Fellowship in 2008, which he currently holds at UCL. He is the author or co-author of 30 publications in peer reviewed international journals and one text book. Dr. Binions research is focused in two main areas. Firstly, in gas sensing where he works with a variety of industrial partners to develop new solid-state metal oxide semi-conductor sensors. He has particular interests in using zeolitic over-layers to design sensors for targeted applications and in using new chemical vapour deposition methodologies for sensor fabrication. Secondly in chemical vapour deposition where he works to create and develop new and hybrid methodologies to influence the micro-structure and functional properties of thin films and nanocomposites
