Laurence Lovat
I qualified at University College London having intercalated in Nutrition with first class honours. I won a UK Medical Research Council research training fellowship to do my PhD. My research now focuses on developing optical tools for managing pre-cancerous changes in Barrett\'s oesophagus. Over 1000 patients have taken part in my clinical trials. I have lectured in 10 countries, served on the oesophageal and research committees of the British Society of Gastroenterology and the Imaging & Advanced Technology Committee of the American Gastroenterology Association, and I am a specialist adviser to the UK National Health Service National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence.
