Minoru Tomizawa

Minoru Tomizawa, MD, PhD, is the head of the Department of Gastroenterology at National Hospital Organization Shimoshizu Hospital in Yotsukaido City, Chiba, Japan. He completed his PhD in Second Department of Pathology at Chiba University Graduate School of Medicine in Chiba City, Japan. He was appointed as a post-doctoral fellowship at National Human Genome Research Institute, NIH, Bethesda, USA, and subsequently at National Institute of Diabetes Digestive and Kidney Diseases, NIH, Bethesda, USA. He held a faculty position at the Department of Medicine and Clinical Oncology in Chiba University Graduate School of Medicine in Chiba City, Japan. He has a broad interest of research: hepatocyte differentiation, signal transduction of cancer, and sonoporation.

Pluripotent stem cells have distinct characteristics: self-renewal and the potential to differentiate into various somatic cells.
