Francisco Guevara-Hernández

Francisco is a Professor with a Ph.D. in Technology and Agrarian Development from Wageningen University (the Netherlands), an MSc in Genetic resources and productivity (Colegio de Postgraduados), and a BSc in Agroecology (Autonomous University of Chapingo). Since 2008 he has been a full-time professor at the School of Agronomic Sciences at the Autonomous University of Chiapas (UNACH) in Mexico, and a member of the research group on Agroforestry and Livestock (CAAP). He is a specialist in Agroecology and Rural Development who does research on the following topics: innovation of traditional agroecosystems, agroecological practices, food security and extension. He is a member of the National Research System-CONACyT since 2009, currently Level II. Francisco has more than 200 publications among which are scientific papers, books, and book chapters. He is a member of six networks and scientific societies, leader of two interdisciplinary research groups and referee of 20 scientific journals. He has coordinated and implemented research projects in Mexico and abroad with national and international financing, with a strong component of extension and action-research. Francisco has been invited as a conference speaker in more than 10 countries and has been a consultant for development agencies in Germany, Switzerland, and the Netherlands. Due to his career, he has received different awards and academic recognitions both in Mexico and abroad.
