Dr. Victor Hugo Rangel Hernandez is a Mechanical Engineer, he graduated from the Faculty of Mechanical Electrical and Electronic Engineering of the University of Guanajuato. He obtained the degree of Master of Science, specializing in Energy Studies at the University of Sheffield, England, and the degree of Doctor, specializing in Advanced Thermodynamics and Energy Optimization, in the Department of Engines of the University of Zaragoza, in Spain. During his PhD, he made an specialization in Biomass Studies at the University of Zaragoza. Since 2005, Dr. Rangel performs teaching and researching work at the University of Guanajuato, where he was coordinator of the post-graduate program in Mechanical Engineering from October 2006 to October 2007; and coordinator of the mechanical engineering program from October 2008 to September 2009. Dr. Rangel has collaborated on two book chapters, 15 papers published on international journals. Also, it has 35 works in prestigious international congresses and 15 in national congresses. He has directed 27 thesis at undergraduate level, 8 master thesis and 2 PhD Thesis. Dr. Rangel is a full member of the Mexican Society of Mechanical Engineering (SOMIM), Member of the Mexican Society of Solar Energy (ANES) and current member of the International Solar Energy Society (ISES). Currently it holds Desirable Profile Recognition granted by the SEP and Level I at the National Research System (SNI). Dr. Rangel is founder of the Research Group on Alternative Energy (RGAE). As director of RGAE, he managed financial resources to carry out some research projects and installation of alternative energy systems, such as the technical feasibility study for the implementation of renewable energy in rural areas of the municipality of Salamanca, Gto., or the development of a bank of biodigesters for teaching purposes at the University of Guanajuato. Since then, he has been strong promoter of the use of alternative energy sources within the premises of the University of Guanajuato, for example: • Development and installation of a photovoltaic system of 1.35 kWp for lighting inside the Campus Irapuato-Salamanca (2011). • Development and installation of a Photovoltaic System in the Library of the Campus Celaya-Salvatierra: 7.8 kWp. (2011) • Development and installation of Photovoltaic System in the library of the Guanajuato Campus (2011) • Solar project in the Mexican Center for Renewable Energy: 27.2 kWp. (136 panels of 200 W) In 2014, Professor Rangel received a great recognition from the Municipality of Salamanca, Gto. As Distinguished Citizen Award. Professor Rangel has been the founder and CEO of the Mexican Center for Renewable Energy S.C. (CEMER), which is located in the city of Salamanca, Guanajuato. (2011-2016). At this time, Dr. Rangel develops projects within the University of Guanajuato as full professor, with private participation or government.
