Luis V. Ponce was born in Havana, Cuba, in 1960. He received his PhD from Havana University in 1996. In 1987 he joined the Institute of Materials and Reactive at Havana University. From 1990 to 2000, he was the Head of Laboratory of Laser Technology. In 2000 year, he accepts the invitation to join the CICATA-IPN in Mexico in order to create the Laboratory of Laser Technology of this institution. At present he holds seventh patents and has published about 60 peer reviewed publications related to development of laser instrumentation, industrial and medical laser applications. He manages over 30 research projects including over teen project financed by industry. He is a member of Laser Institute of America, the International Society for Optical Engineering, the Russian Laser Association, the New York Academy of Sciences and The Cuban Physical Society. Since 1993 year he is a member of Cuba Territorial Committee from International Commission for Optics. Heâ€™s experience has been concentrated in four areas, Conception and Design of Laser Instrumentation, Laser-Matter Interaction, Industrial Laser Applications and Medical Laser Applications.
