Professor Dr. Krassimir Metodiev, MD, PhD, DSc(Med), is Head of the Department of Preclinical and Clinical Sciences, Medical University, Varna, Bulgaria; President, IMAB; Vice-President, FESCI; Referent, UICC; and Director, ARW Bioterrorism, Scientific Affairs’ Division, NATO. His specialties are immunology and clinical microbiology. He has published 240 papers, IF 174.00, 7 books on medicine, and 2 books on poetry. He is editor in chief of the Journal of IMAB and editorial board member of IJIP, EJI, CEJM, JAA, and JISAO. He has attended 120 congresses worldwide, is a plenary speaker, and has been the chairperson of several sessions and workshops. He has been guest professor in Germany (Institute for Immunology, Munich); Austria (Danube University, Krems); Norway (The Norwegian Radium Hospital, Institute for Cancer Research, Oslo); and Israel (Hadassah-Jerusalem, Rambam-Haifa, Sheba-Tel Hashomer). He has been assigned the following awards: Union Bulgarian Physicians (Doctor of the Year, twice); Honorary Medal IMAB; Annual Award ISC; Order Maimonides-Rambam (Haifa-Israel); Plate, Hellenic & International SMGM (Greece); Medal, Hadassah (Jerusalem-Israel); Medal, Sheba (Tel Aviv-Israel); Medal NKF (USA); and Plate, Israel Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He is also an honorary consul of Israel to Bulgaria.
