On attaining a Bachelor\'s degree in Political Science and Public Administration with the University of Zimbabwe in 1981, I was awarded a scholarship to pursue studies in urban and regional planning at the University of Dortmund, Germany, which I completed with a master\'s degree qualification in 1989. Thereafter, I worked as a town planner and development economist for the government of Zimbabwe from 1990 to 2006 before joining the Department of Rural and Urban Planning as a lecturer in Professional Planning Practice, Urban Development and Housing and Building Design in 2007. From January 2008 to July 2012 I lectured in urban environmental planning and management on the urban management masters degree programme at the Ethiopian Civil Service University. I am presently a doctorate student with the University of South Africa investigating the political economy of peri-urban transformations in Zimbabwe under globalisation.
