Qasem, Professor of Weed Physiology and Ecology at the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Jordan, Amman, Jordan. His main duties include the scientific research (Basic & Applied) and teaching in the fields of Weed Science, Plant Physiology and Medicinal & Aromatic Plants. He is a founder member of the International Allelopathy Society (IAS), life member of the International Weed Science Society (IWSS), member of the Weed Science Society Japan, the Arab Society for Plant Protection,. Dr. Qasem awarded the Shoman Award for Youth Arab Researchers in Agricultural Science for the year 1992, Hisham Hijjawi Award in Agriculture & Water for the year 1996, Fulbright Award for Scholar Exchange 1999, One-Year Advancement in Rank and Salary, University of Jordan for his outstanding scientific research and teaching achievements, and Prize for outstanding Book in Applied Sciences, University of Jordan, 2004 and the Agricultural Engineers Association Prize for publication, scientific research and extension. Dr. Qasem is an author of four textbooks; Plant Science, Medicinal & Aromatic Plants, Weeds & their Control and Weeds & their Control (practical). He published more than 142 research paper and book chapters in refereed international journals and 12 scientific books with more than 35 papers on Allelopathy. Dr. Qasem contributed in many international congresses, and has more than 40 scientific research reports and paper abstracts. He was a supervisor and directed thesis work for many graduate students and an examiner for many in Jordan and outside. Dr Qasem invited and traveled to present his work in different world countries including Syria, Egypt, Sudan, Iraq,Qattar, India, Spain, France, Canada, USA, Japan, South Africa, Australia, Pakistan, Turkey and China.
