Manoj Tiwari

Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur India

Prof. Manoj Kumar Tiwari has pursued research primarily in the areas of modelling and analysis of manufacturing systems, supply chain network and operations management. Prof. Tiwari has contributed significantly in the development of algorithm for the design and operational improvements in production, planning and control aspects of manufacturing and resolved the complexities of supply chain network design. Most of his research contributions are centred around the design and modelling of flexible and reconfigurable manufacturing and supply chain network, so that rapidly changing IT and manufacturing requirements of discrete part manufacturing industries can be met. His overall research focus is to realize the effective integration among different segments of operations in product life cycle (design, manufacturing and services) with heterogeneous data to attain self-resilient manufacturing and logistics systems. Prof. Tiwari was involved in many innovative projects such as implementation of lean paradigms in repair and maintenance of fighter planes in Indian Air Force (11th BRD, Nashik). He has also developed decision support model for packing the trucks for an FMCG company and also provided a solution to Dhamra port for effective integration of their ship berthing, yard allocation and rake scheduling. Presently he is leading an interdisciplinary team which represent a mega project, ?Sustainable food security through: Technological interventions for production, processing and logistics? involving different departments. He is also a member of the project ?EU - India Research and Innovation Partnership for Efficient and Sustainable Freight Transportation (REINVEST)?
