Marie Alricsson

Marie Alricsson, PhD, RPT, is a Professor and Physiotherapist and has graduated from the Karolinska Institutet, Stockholm. She has a PhD in Medical Science from the Karolinska Institutet, Stockholm. She has done post doctoral studies at the University of Lund, Sweden and at the Griffith University, Logan Campus, Australia. Her research and publications are in the area of public health, prevention, sports medicine, physical activity in prevention and treatment of disease and rehabilitation. She is working as a researcher and a senior lecturer at the Mid Sweden University, Department of Health Sciences, SE- 831 25 Östersund, Sweden, and part time as a Professor at Linnaeus University, Department of School of Education, Psychology and Sport Science, Kalmar, Sweden.

Work-related musculoskeletal disorders are a significant problem throughout the world. The work environment has undergone rapid changes in recent years. With increasing number of workers being tied to man, machine systems, susceptibility to constrained postures, visual strain and mental and physical stresses have increased. This book is a collaboration among many clinicians and researchers and a small step in addressing these issues by discussing various aspects of musculoskeletal disorders from different professions, researchers and countries.
