Joceli Mayer
Dr. Joceli Mayer graduated in electrical engineering from the Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina (UFSC), Brazil, in 1998, received the Master's degree in electrical engineering from UFSC in 1991, the Master's degree in computer engineering from the University of California at Santa Cruz (UCSC) in 1998, and the Dr. Phil. degree in 1999 from UCSC. He received the Best Student Paper Award from the IEEE International Conference on Image Processing and IBM, in 2006, and became an IEEE Senior Member in 2012. Currently, Dr. Mayer has been a Full Professor of Electrical Engineering at UFSC. He has published over 100 articles in conferences and periodicals, authored two books and two chapters, and advised undergraduate and graduate students on research projects. He has developed and supervised projects on super-resolution, speech compression, VOIP systems, image processing, digital watermarking, hardcopy document authentication, and assistive technology applications for hearing, speech, and mobility-disabled people with the internet of Things and speech recognition technologies. His research has been supported by industry and government agencies including the FINEP, CNPq, Hewlett Packard, and Intelbras, among others.
