Gustavo Urquiza

Universidad Autónoma del Estado de Morelos Mexico

Dr. Urquiza obtained his Ph.D in École Polytechnique de Montréal, Canada. He is a researcher and professor in the Mechanical Technology Department from Center of Research in Engineering and Applied Sciences (CIICAp) from State University of Morelos (UAEM), since 2004 to date. He is also a professor at the Chemical Sciences and Engineering Faculty (FCQeI). He has expertise in studies of efficiency improvements in hydraulic, steam and gas turbines; also in modeling fluid flow and heat transfer using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and in experimental measurement of flow in hydroelectric turbines using the Pressure-Time method and Winter-Kennedy methods. He has published in several scientific journals such Applied Thermal Engineering, Applied Energy and others, besides on several congress and publications from ASME.

The Flow Measurement book comprises different topics. The book is divided in four sections. The first section deals with the basic theories and application in microflows, including all the difficulties that such phenomenon implies. The second section includes topics related to the measurement of biphasic flows, such as separation of different phases to perform its individual measurement and other experimental methods. The third section deals with the development of various experiments and devices for gas flow, principally air and combustible gases. The last section presents 2 chapters on the theory and methods to perform flow measurements indirectly by means on pressure changes, applied on large and small flows.
