Dr. Mutasem O. Taha , Professor of medicinal chemistry and drug design at the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the Faculty of Pharmacy/University of Jordan. Prof Taha received his Pharmacy B.Sc. degree from The University of Jordan in 1992. In 1994 and 1998, he earned his M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees, respectively, in Medicinal Chemistry from Loughborough University of Technology /United Kingdom. In 1998, he was appointed as assistant professor at the faculty of pharmacy/The University of Jordan. He was promoted to associate professor in 2003 and to full professor in 2008. He is currently interested in the areas of developing new polymeric materials for drug delivery and applications of molecular modeling techniques in drug design and pharmaceutics. He is particularly interested in the development of novel ligand-based strategies for assessing molecular flexibility of binding sites of various interesting enzymes and receptors. H e has special interest in cancer, diabetes and obesity. Currently, he is in charge of the Drug Discovery Unit at the Faculty of Pharmacy - University of Jordan. He published more than 60 articles in international, peer-reviewed high caliber journals and has 4 patents in his name.

Pharmacophore modeling, QSAR analysis, CoMFA, CoMSIA, docking and molecular dynamics simulations, are currently implemented to varying degrees in virtual screening towards discovery of new bioactive hits. Implementation of such techniques requires multidisciplinary knowledge and experience. This volume discusses established methodologies as well as new trends in virtual screening with aim of facilitating their use in drug discovery.
