IntechOpen Climate Change Showcase is Now Live on Kudos

20 December 2022

We are pleased to announce that a selection of articles from IntechOpen Journal Green Energy and Environmental Technology is now available on Kudos through IntechOpen Climate Change Showcase with summaries explained in plain language by professional science writers at Impact Science.

We recently joined the Climate Change Knowledge Cooperative, an initiative led by research communications companies Kudos and Impact Science. This initiative summarises key climate change research from over 15 scholarly publishers, including Brill, Cambridge University Press, De Gruyter, Elsevier, Frontiers, IOP Publishing, Royal Society of Chemistry, and Wiley, in simple language to make it more understandable and accessible.

As one of society's most challenging problems, climate change merits greater attention from all stakeholders, with cross sector collaborations crucial. In this sense, this initiative perfectly aligns with the Open Access and Open Science principles fostered at IntechOpen.

Natalia Reinic Babic, Head of Journal Publishing and Open Science at IntechOpen says, “The pace of climate change requires all parties to work collaboratively across disciplines and sectors to address the emergency we face as fast and effectively as possible. Open science means taking science outside the scientific community and actively engaging with all societal actors, which is why we’re pleased to be supporting the Climate Change Knowledge Cooperative in their mission to help broaden the understanding of relevant climate change research and accelerate its application towards a sustainable future.”

Climate change is one of those topics where it is really important we help the broadest possible audience understand what research is telling us,” explains Charlie Rapple, Kudos co-founder and Chief Customer Officer. “Scholarly publications are simply not designed for that purpose of reaching and influencing non-academics; as a sector, we can and must do more. We’re really proud to be helping publishers play an active, meaningful role in summarising and showcasing important research.”

At IntechOpen we work hard to actively promote published content, increase its visibility, and help authors reach a broader audience. This is why we have partnered with Kudos to leverage its powerful platform to expand discovery and understanding of climate change research and accelerate its application for a sustainable future.

Initiatives like this one from Kudos and Impact Science are an excellent example of how to make science more accessible in order to put research into practice to address changes that impact lives.
