.

26 April 2012

In view of IntechOpen's growing collection of publications within the field of Medicine, our own Head of Commissioning and Acquisition, Miss Ana Nikolic, will be attending the 7th International Symposium on Neuroprotection and Neurorepair to be held in Potsdam, Germany, May 2-5, 2012.

Among other, renowned experts from all over the world and professionals in the field of stroke, Parkinson's and Alzheimer's disease will address and discuss the most recent research achievements and findings in key note lectures. Moreover, no parallel sessions have been scheduled during the main stage program while scientific discussions are to be fuelled by giving the opportunity to young scientists to present their research papers as well. Also, the program includes scientific posters sessions and extensive breaks to facilitate social interactions and future collaborations between attending scientists.

The main topics discussed will address the following research areas within neuroscience:

  • Neurodegenerative and ischemic diseases of the CNS
  • Mechanism of neurodegeneration and neuroregeneration
  • Targeted neuroregeneration and novel therapies
  • Imaging, diagnosis and cutting-edge methodology
  • Translational and clinical research
  • Miscellaneous contributions

Neuroscience has been a tremendously dynamic and ever-growing field of study especially in the past few decades in consequence of scientific advancements made in molecular biology, electrophysiology and computational neuroscience. In addition to conducting traditional research in labs and other facilities, neuroscientists have also been keen in promoting awareness and knowledge about this core scientific research area, educating the general public and advancing the understanding of the brain and nervous system. In this direction, to acknowledge the importance of neuroscience and its rapid growth, The Dana Alliance for Brain Initiatives launched Brain Awareness Week in 1996, held every year March 12-18, focusing the international attention on the field of neuroscience and challenging researchers to be more aggressive and creative in their work. There are still many frontiers to be conquered in this highly-engaging field of research and IntechOpen is set to give its global audience of readers in the field the best of neuroscience out there through its publications free to read, share and download.

If you are planning to attend the Symposium in Potsdam, feel free to contact our Ana Nikolic at nikolic@intechopen.com to schedule a meeting and talk about possible collaborations and projects in the neuroscience field.
