IJARS Rising Star

IJARS Rising Star-Published papers

The support of young researchers is a stepping stone of any scientific discipline since the youth is the future that determines the development in all research areas. Robotics is, by no means, an exception. Therefore, an active support of PhD students is a must for all members of the scientific community, including the publishers. IJARS has decided to contribute to this goal by starting IJARS Rising Star project which will focus on support and promotion of young researchers in robotics. The project will, first and foremost, encourage and help students to publish their research papers, an activity which is at the core of one's scientific career. It will also aim at raising the awareness of the importance of PhD studies and strengthen the recognition of young, rising stars in robotics through open access.

Project description

The project is led by four guest editors who will co-ordinate the review process, and supported by three ambassadors. In order to emphasise the international character of the journal and the project itself, the ambassadors are from different continents and of a different background. Their main purpose is to describe the challenges and opportunities of doing a PhD in robotics as well as acting as a mentor to the students.

Once the review of all submitted papers has been completed, the guest editors will choose top 10% papers which will be published in the International Journal of Advanced Robotic systems for free.

Other authors whose work gets accepted, but don't make the top 10%, will be offered a discounted APC of 640 Euros.

The initiative will also merge with one of IJARS's current projects - Guest Content Curator. This time, our Guest Content curator will be a PhD student who will make a selection of online content targeted at young reseachers.

Ph.D. students at any level/age can apply for the project. The main requirement is that the topic of the submitted paper fits the IJARS scope and that it is written in English. Each individual participant is allowed to submit only one paper (as first author or co-author).
