Early this year, IntechOpen launched a portfolio of Open Science journals, with a view to move beyond Open Access and support the changing needs of academics. In the run up to launch, we worked with our community and want to continue this conversation as we grow together into Open Science.

With this in mind, we are launching a series of webinars to educate those who are inclined towards Open Science and would like to know more. Experienced publisher, Dr Sarah Greaves lead our first online event, chaired by Dr Lesley Anson. The focus was on how Open Science is the natural next step for academics and publishers who support Open Access, and how to open up science for the benefit of all.

Dr Greaves described the growing set of practices, from promoting open and publicly accessible education tools, transparency in experimental methodology, observation, and collection of data, reproducible research data and re-analysis and availability and reusability of data. She has outlined publishing practices and transparent peer review, and how web tools are used to facilitate scientific collaboration and knowledge exchange.
