Cities are hubs of information, trade, culture, science, productivity, and social, human, and economic growth. Sustainable urban development includes urban planning, transportation systems, water supply, sanitation, waste management, disaster risk reduction, access to information, education, and capacity building. Given the significance of this problem to global development efforts, there have been recent worldwide campaigns to encourage the examination of sustainable development from the perspective of cities. As a result, the 2030 Agenda includes a separate objective for cities and urban development, Sustainable Development Goal 11, which states that cities and human settlements must be "open, safe, resilient, and ecologically sustainable." It also highlights the interconnected nature of urban concerns, which influence several other SDGs, including SDGs 1, 6, 7, 8, 9, 12, 15, and 17. Sustainable cities have economic progress, social fairness, a greater quality of life, and a healthier environment. A sustainable city can offer long-term well-being to its citizens under particular social and economic conditions without compromising the urban ecosystem's functions. Consequently, a sustainable city concept integrates green practices, green spaces, and assistive technologies into the urban environment to reduce air pollution and carbon emissions, improve air quality, and protect natural resources. These practices result in a healthier environment for city dwellers and a lower carbon footprint for the city. Sustainable cities are becoming increasingly important in reversing global climate change. A sustainable city is an urban center designed to improve its environmental impact through urban planning and management. When defining an eco-city, think of cities with parks, green spaces, solar-powered buildings, rooftop gardens, and more pedestrians and cyclists than cars. This is no futuristic dream. Smart cities are actively moving towards greener urban ecosystems and better stewardship of the environment.
