InTernship Programme

InTechOpen offers the opportunity to PhD students who are affiliated with the Editor of an active or future publication to take part in the development of book projects or conference proceedings. If you are looking to apply your theoretical expertise in practice either during or after your studies, then we would like to extend to you a warm welcome to InTechOpen. At InTechOpen, new tasks and exciting challenges await you.

At InTechOpen, you will be given a chance to quickly complete assignments on an independent basis, effectively preparing you for your future publishing activities and allowing you to gain practical experience.

As a partner, InTechOpen will commit to:

  • Publishing the book under the research group/editor's supervision as an Open Access publication. This will be available in a digital format to be read, downloaded and shared for free among the scientific community.
  • Organizing an internship term of up to two months. This will allow PhD students to work on the publishing process of a publication. Duties will range from supporting the department’s day-to-day business to independent work on a specific publishing project
  • Organizing a well-rounded internship programme, which will allow students to get acquainted with all the steps of the publishing process (editorial / programme planning, production and logistics) This will provide a thorough insight into publishing and the process of producing scientific publications

A formal requirement for these students to advance in their future career is scientific research publishing. Thus, this partnership will offer them the opportunity to gain valuable experience both in terms of professional and personal development.

Eligibility for this programme:

  • Formal belonging to the book/special issue editor's institutions
  • Formal belonging to the conference proceeding coordinator's institutions
  • Member of research groups publishing their work with InTechOpen
  • Active (early stage) and future publishing projects
  • Advanced English skills and computer literacy
  • Personal initiative and teamwork
  • Ability to work on your own and readiness to take on responsibility

Working hours: Full time 08.00-16.00, Monday to Friday

Benefit: In collaboration with the parent institutions, internship programmes can be organized to grant credit for the internship adding legitimacy to the programme as a formal and educational experience.
