InTech's Publishing Principles
InTech is committed to disseminating high-quality scientific research in a manner that exemplifies the best of scholarly publishing. We are committed to the following core principles and apply them to every one of our journals and books:
Editorial review
All manuscripts submitted to our journals undergo double blind peer review. While in book publishing, the editor, a leading researcher in the field, reviews each chapter proposal to ensure the submission meets an appropriate scientific standard. Then, if accepted, authors are invited to prepare and submit their chapter(s). Once a manuscript has been received, it will undergo a final quality check and review by the book editor to ensure that it meets the standards required for publication and if need be, a complete review outlining aspects which may require further work will be sent by email. Thereafter, the chapter will be prepared for publication.
Exemplary Editors
InTech book editors and journal editors-in-chief are leading researchers in their fields. Editors are selected based on their expertise, scientific impact and track record. InTech’s editorial composition is diverse, with representation from more than 147 countries. We believe this positions us positively to respond to the challenges faced by the millions scientists writing in their non-native language.
An Equitable Business Model
InTech's publications are open access, which ensures their widest possible visibility. All journal articles and book chapters are free to read and share by anyone, anywhere in the world. This model is not without costs (e.g., peer review, journal production, and online hosting and archiving), so authors are required to pay a modest Article Processing Charge (APC). These APC charges, which average 590 Euros across InTech publications, are lower than most open access publishers. Furthermore, InTech grants waivers for approximately 10 per cent of all accepted book chapters and as many more for journal papers to support researchers from developing nations publish the results of their work. An Article Processing Charge model is not a pay-to-publish scheme. All papers are reviewed and subject to rejection if they fail to meet the scientific standard established by our editors. Only after stringent review and acceptance is an Article Processing Charge assessed.
Targeted Manuscript Solicitation
Prospective authors with previously published work in a related field are contacted and invited to submit chapter proposals. Authors who have previously published on related topics with InTech may also be invited. The invited contributor’s publishing history, the quality of the sources where his/her research has previously been published, and the relevance and impact of these past publications are some of the key criteria we use during the selection process.
InTech strives to maintain a high standard of integrity in its publishing operations by espousing these principles.
