Sharifu Ura
Sharifu Ura is full professor at Kitami Institute of Technology (KIT), Japan, and directs KIT’s Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Laboratory and the Innovative Manufacturing Center for Education and Research. He received his first degree, Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Mechanical), from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology in September 1992. He received a Master’s degree and a Ph.D. degree from Kansai University, Osaka, Japan, in March 1996 and 1999, respectively, in Mechanical Engineering, majoring in manufacturing. Before joining KIT in October 2009, he worked as a full-time faculty member at the Asian Institute of Technology (2000-2002, Assistant Professor), Bangkok, Thailand, and at United Arab Emirates University (2002-2006, Assistant Professor, 2006-2009, Associate Professor), Al Ain, UAE. He has mentored many students and published many technical articles in reputed peer-reviewed journals, edited books, and international conference proceedings. He has been serving on the editorial boards of several peer-reviewed international journals. His current research focuses on Smart Manufacturing, 3D Printing, Sustainable Product Development, Reverse Engineering, Precision Manufacturing, and Engineering Education.
