Heni Rachmawati

Dr. Heni Rachmawati is a professor at the School of Pharmacy, Bandung Institute of Technology. She obtained her Ph.D. degree at the University of Groningen the Netherlands in 2005, in the field of drug targeting. In 2009 she did postdoctoral research at Free University Berlin Germany with a project on nanocurcumin development, followed by a year postdoctoral project on polymeric nanocarrier for breast cancer targeting, at the National University of Singapore, Singapore. Since then, her research is focusing on nanotechnology for pharmaceutical applications. In 2013 she was appointed as a chairwoman in the division of nanomedicine, at the Research Center for Nanosciences and Nanotechnology, Bandung Institute of Technology. She is currently head of the Research Center for Nanosciences and Nanotechnology, Bandung Institute of Technology, Indonesia. Apart from her position at Bandung Institute of Technology, she is also a scientific consultant in local pharma companies, in particular in the development of pharmaceutical products. She won various awards both national and international in the field of pharmacy. She is actively publishing her research projects in good-reputation international journals. She is the author of more than 90 international papers. She has 4 patents granted and 6 under review and some commercial products marketed by a local Indonesian pharma company. She has several projects to develop nanotechnology-based pharma products in collaboration with several local pharma companies in Indonesia. She leads several research grants from the Indonesian government funding. The projects are focusing on tropical plant-based pharma products by applying nanotechnology to improve the therapeutic index of tropical plant-derived active compounds.
