J.F. Fernández-Garayzábal is a Full Professor at the Department of Animal Health of the Veterinary School., at the Universidad Complutense in Madrid, Spain. His responsibilities includes research and teaching in Microbiology, being his main areas of work those related with bacterial taxonomy, molecular detection and genetic characterization of bacterial pathogens of clinical relevance in veterinary medicine. He has published more than one hundred scientific papers, most of them in peer-reviewed scientific journals included in the JCR database, such as Journal of Clinical Microbiology, Applied and Environmental Microbiology, Emerging Infectious deases, International Journal of Systematic and Evolutionary Microbiology, Veterinary Microbiology, or similar journals. His has also published another 18 monographies, book chapters or technical articles. He has been the Co/Director of 9 doctoral thesis and participated in several national and international research projects, being the main responsible of many of them. He has also collaborated in 35-scientific/technical projects with private industries and public institutions. He has presented more than 100 communications to national and international congress, giving also different conferences in national and international meetings. He is reviewer of different journals (IJSEM, Dis. Aquatic Org., Food Microbiol. Vet. Microbiol, …).
