Mustafa Shennak

Professor Mustafa M. Shennak received his MD 1967 from Istanbul University, Faculty of Medicine, his Doctorate in Internal Medicine, and gained his Fellowship in Gastroenterology and Liver diseases, 1972. Professor Shennak was the first Jordanian certified gastroenterologist who initiated upper and lower fiberoptic endoscopy, in Jordan, in 1973. In 1979 he went to University College Hospital of London where he worked with consultant Dr. Paul Salmon. Thereafter he returned to Jordan to initiate Therapeutic Endoscopic procedures including Retrograde Chlangio-Pancreatography (ERCP) diagnostic and therapeutic. He was appointed full time teaching staff member, at University of Jordan followed by Chairman of the Internal Medicine department and then chief GI & Liver Division and Endoscopy Unit where he currently resides. Professor Shennak has served as President of the Jordanian Gastroenterology Society since 2008 and is a member at the editorial board of the medical journal, Hepatogastroenterology - the official journal of IASGO. He has more than 45 national and international publications to his credit.

Ulcerative Colitis (UC) is a rapidly evolving medical field, and will continue to be very exiting in the next few decades.
