Shuji Miyagawa
Dr. Shuji Miyagawa is an associate professor of Surgery at the Osaka University Graduate School of Medicine, in Japan. After graduating at Hokkaido University Medical School, he finished clinical training in the first Department of Surgery, at Osaka University Medical School. He obtained his Ph.D. degree in transplantation immunology from the same university in 1989. Dr. Shuji Miyagawa worked at the University of Texas Medical School in Houston as a research associate from 1988 to 1990. He became an assistant professor in 1995 and associate professor at Osaka University in 1998. His works have been presented at numerous international meetings, especially at the International Xenotransplantation Association (IXA), and he held the IXA-2013 in Osaka as the president. He was a councilor of IXA, from 2013 to 2017, and is now the president of the Japanese Society for Xenotransplantation (JSX).
