BRIEF BIOGRAPHY Folorunso Adewale Olabiyi is a Biomedical Laboratory Scientist and Lecturer at the Clinical Chemistry Unit, Department of Medical Laboratory Science, College of Medicine and Health Sciences, Afe Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State, Nigeria. After completing a four year Associateship diploma of the then Institute of Medical Laboratory Science and Technology of Nigeria (now Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria), he worked as a Medical Laboratory Scientist at both Osuntuyi Medical Centre, Obanikoro and Primex Hospital, Ikotun Lagos, Nigeria (private establishments) between the year 1999 to 2003 before joining the Department of Chemical Pathology, University College Hospital, Ibadan as a Medical Laboratory Scientist II in April, 2003. He rose through the ranks to become a Senior Medical Laboratory Scientist in 2008. The position he occupied until September 2010. While at the University College Hospital, Ibadan, he coordinated fresh graduates of Medical Laboratory Science on internship and other students from related disciplines from other universities on student\'s industrial work experience (SIWES). Also, he lectured Clinical Chemistry to Associate and Fellowship students preparing for professional examinations of the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria on a part-time basis at his alma mater. He also took part in setting up of practical examinations (parts I and II) of the National and West African Postgraduate Medical Colleges. Because of his passion for scholarship, research, teaching and community engagements, he voluntarily withdrew his services in October, 2010 to join a newly established private, higher educational institution, called Achievers University, Owo in Ondo state, Nigeria as Lecturer II where he served meritoriously until October 2013 to join his present institution. He contributed in no small measure to the growth of the newly established department there, especially in his area of specialization which is Clinical Chemistry/Chemical Pathology. While at Achievers University, apart from his primary duty as a lecturer and researcher, he served as the examination officer of his department, a member of several committees such as examination and results verification committee, departmental examination committee, students\' course and level adviser and several other ad hoc committees. He lectures and supervises undergraduate students and collaborates with local and international Scientists. His area of research interest is on Antioxidants in Health and disease, macro and micronutrients. He was also involved in natural products and health with a focus on diabetes for his doctorate degree. Dr FA Olabiyi has successfully mentored and supervised four (4) undergraduate Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science (B.MLS) students from his former institution i.e Achievers University, Owo, Ondo State, Nigeria. His position at his present institution has brought him into the limelight with numerous accolades and one of the best lecturer\'s awards in 2014. He has published thirteen (13) scientific papers in peer-reviewed journals and three book chapters. He attended both local and international conferences, workshops and seminars. He is an Associate Member of the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria and the Institute of Biomedical Science, London (UK). He is also a member of the Society for Medicinal Plants and Economic Development (SOMPED/17/254), as well as a member of the Endocrine Society (USA) (Membership No: 418161). He holds the PhD in Biomedical Science (CPUT, South Africa) as well as the Masters of Science in Medical Laboratory Science with specialization in Clinical Chemistry from the Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, Edo State, Nigeria. Currently, he is a senior lecturer at the Department of Medical Laboratory Science, College of Medicine and Health Sciences, Afe Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti, Nigeria, where he lectures and supervises undergraduate and postgraduate students. Dr Folorunso Olabiyi is full of enthusiasm and vigor for his research work. At his leisure time, he enjoys reading novels, jogging, cycling and playing tennis. He is blessed with two boys.
