Polytechnic University of Turin Italy

Giuseppe Procaccianti is a second-year Ph.D. student in the Software & Services Group of the VU University, Amsterdam. He obtained his B.Sc. in Computer Engineering from Università degli Studi di Palermo in 2008 and his M.Sc. in Computer Engineering from Politecnico di Torino in 2011. He is currently undertaking a double-degree PhD program between the Politecnico and the VU. He is also part of the Software Engineering Group (SOFTENG) of the Politecnico di Torino, led by prof. Maurizio Morisio. His research interests focus on the interaction between Software technologies and energy consumption, from 2 different points of view: Energy-Efficient Software: analyzing the energy consumption of Software systems, through statistical and empirical methods, and establish a sound methodology for increasing the energy efficiency of ICT and Software solutions. Software for energy: Software solutions for optimizing energy consumption (for example, Smart Grid and Smart Building energy management systems, RES forecasting). He recently developed a prototype for a Smart Grid energy management system leveraging Semantic Web technologies. Giuseppe served as part of the Program Committee for the First and Second International Workshop on Green and Sustainable Software (GREENS), co-located with ICSE 2012 and 2013 conferences. He is a member of the IEEE Computer Society.
