Ciaran Hughes
Ciarán Hughes received the BE in Electronic and Computer Engineering in 2003 from the National University of Ireland, Galway. In 2003 he worked with Connaught Electronics Ltd. (now Valeo Vision Systems, co-sponsors of his PhD research) on FPGA development of both video and radar systems, before commencing his PhD degree with the Connaught Automotive Research Group in NUI Galway in 2005. His PhD research was in the area of the calibration of fish-eye cameras for application in close range vision systems for the automotive market. Through his doctoral research, he has been involved in design and image quality aspects for automotive vision system projects with VVS, and since completing his PhD research in 2009, he has been employed as a Vision Systems Specialist with the Vision Systems Group in VVS.
