Joamin Gonzalez-Gutierrez received his bachelor degree in Biosystems Engineering (2002) and master degree in Food Science (2008) at the University of Manitoba (Canada). During his master studies, he focused on studying the mechanical properties of vegetable shortening and worked as a Process Engineer at the Manitoba Food Development Center. After graduation he received an Erasmus Mundus scholarship (2008-2010) from the European Commission to study Engineering Rheology at three different universities: University of Huelva (Spain), University of Minho (Portugal) and Catholic University of Louvain (Belgium). The focus of his research was development and physical characterization of protein-based bioplastics and polymer-clay nanocomposites. Currently, he is undertaking his doctoral studies at the University of Ljubljana studying the physical properties of polymer-metal composites with applications in powder injection molding.
