Theresa Adebola John was born in Washington, D.C., USA, on November 1st, 1961 to Nigerian parents and was raised in the United Kingdom and Nigeria. She holds an MSc. and a PhD in pharmacology from the University of Lagos and a Master of Health Professions Education from the University of Illinois at Chicago. She has worked at the University of Lagos, Nigeria, as a lecturer; at the University of Manchester, United Kingdom, and the University of Illinois at Chicago, United States of America, as a biomedical scientist; at the University of California, Los Angeles, as an adjunct assistant professor, and at the Lagos State University, Nigeria, as a lecturer. She is a devoted academic scientist and an independent vocational writer. Dr. John has been a columnist for The Nation Newspaper, Nigeria on Saturdays writing the Family Health Column and has written more than 150 published articles. From attending Christian secondary schools, ’Bola came to know about the Christian faith which greatly influences her life and works. Apart from academic publications, ’Bola John has written several motivational books to help busy people, mainly professionals like herself. These include: “Another Prayer Book for Busy People”, “Authority and Obedience in Christian Life”, “True to Poetry”, “Being Fully Alive: The Road to Perfection and Happiness”, “Prayer Bytes for the Restless”, “Why Pray?” “Tips on the Devil”, “Cults and Christianity”, “Doing the Work of God”, “Ten Commandments With No Amendments”, “Two in One - A Christian Retreat for Premarital Couples”, “Inspiring Africa - Thoughts on Civics, Ethics, and Nation Building”, and “Eni-Tobi, the King’s Son” (the latter is a children’s story in African setting). ’Bola also illustrates her own books and produces lyrical art. A scientist by profession, ’Bola always tries to relate the material to the spiritual and to bring the depth of Christian spirituality home to people without much religious exposure. ’Bola writes to help to shape the third millennium of Christianity based on the foundation of Sacred Scripture.
