SHOW-Reporting on How We Shared Open Access worldwide

02 November 2011

Open Access Week is a global event taking place every year in October, celebrating and promoting Open Access all around the globe through initiatives delivered by OA advocates, enthusiasts, professionals and academics pushing hard to make Open Access a new norm in scholarship and research.

IntechOpen, being an Open Access publisher and an active advocate of OA in the STM field and beyond, has successfully organised its own event, SHOW-Share Open Access Worldwide, held in Rijeka, IntechOpen's hometown, on October 26-27, 2011.

During the 2 days some members of IntechOpen's staff moved to the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences where they managed to put up and present to the visiting audience lectures, debates, round tables, movies, music events all evolving around the subjects of Open Access publishing, intellectual property, new ways of licensing all online content, remix and share culture, disseminating free knowledge just to mention a few. IntechOpen is thrilled to announce that the audience's enthusiasm to what they saw and heard was overwhealming. All the speakers and guests who took part to the event and kindly accepted our invite to discuss and share their knowledge on various subjects related to Open Access have been key in delivering invaluable information to a curious and diverse audience not yet acquainted with all the novelties brought up by last decade's digital revolution.

Finally, SHOW has been the first event of its kind ever to be organised in Croatia and a real success in terms of OA promotion and information sharing. It is only by disseminatining freely the knowledge that we can all learn, share and eventually advance both personally and professionally.
